Weekly Wishlist... Part 2

Even though the weather has cleared up so far, it's still got me nervous about Boston weather. As of right now, our stuff isn't supposed to be here until Monday or Tuesday (L-L-LAME WITH A SERIOUS CAPITAL L) so I've already caved on a few clothing purchases. The one thing I've noticed about Boston is that there is no shortage of awesome umbrellas.

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for one that's totally sweet. Funny thing is when I go to Etsy and type in "UMBRELLA" what comes up is a bunch of stuff with umbrellas on it rather than actual umbrellas like this awesome one from Etsy seller: thepuddingstorevint.
It's funny how trendy umbrellas are, but they do make a cute little icon. In honor of Boston's rainy weather, here are some of my favorite umbrella items that aren't actually umbrellas

Boston Exploration

Today the rain finally stopped and I was able to check out the city a bit. The one thing I love is how much graffiti there is and not in a dirty dingy way either. There is some really awesome artwork plastered on almost every building here.

Weekly Wishlist... Part 1

I have not had dry feet since leaving Florida. As I mentioned yesterday, we did not pack properly for Boston weather and I've been ogling boots, jackets, and umbrellas everywhere. I'm definitely going to have to stock up on some new footwear before the harsh New England winter hits. My favorite place for footwear is Etsy's vintage section

First days in Boston

Well...I'm in Boston!!!!!
Ari CLAIMS the weather report for Boston last week was sunny with a high of 80 which means we mainly packed shorts and t-shirts. So far it's been pouring rain every single day with a high of 60. This has been my vision pretty much everyday. Not awesome.
It also means I haven't been taken pictures of anything because I don't want to pull out my camera in the pouring rain. We had an umbrella, but wind pretty much demolished it instantly. Our moving truck wont be here until Saturday so I'm writing from the cold tile floor of our empty apartment, but hey...we have INTERWEBS! And cable. I haven't had full on cable in a while. Truth is we probably can't afford it, but it's wonderful anyway.

I am so sick of having wet feet and being cold from lack of proper clothing that I'm practically salivating over the thought of rain boots. Although I can't really justify spending money on new clothes when I have a 50 foot semi on it's way to our apartment with all of my boots and jackets.

I feel like this constantly

Little Boxes

So packing packing and more packing. Joy. I friggin
hate packing. I feel like it makes you compartmentalize your life into boxes and tape labels and categories and bleh. I was going through some stuff from my dad's house that I hadn't had a chance to pick up from when I was living there and I found all my old sketch books from high school all the way through to last summer's drawing class. I'm always terrified to look through my old artwork because most of it is embarrassing emo shit, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Not too horrible, eh?

I also got new business cards in the mail! I'm really excited about them because I was able to use some of the photos from the pin up photo shoot on my cards. I think they're quite purty.

Weekly Wishlist

It's been a while since I just sat and browsed through all of the wonderful items on Etsy and I finally has a chance to allow myself another eyegasm this weekend. I have to admit, I'm constantly impressed with the fabulous artisans on Etsy and the ridiculous idea that all of these wonderful things are at our disposal.....well providing you have the cash. Either way, it just blows my mind sometimes.

I love all of her items! I want almost every piece she has, but, since I've already established that I'm a sucker for nautical stuff, I love this the most.

This seller has a ton of awesome stuff, but I want this ring the second I get some extra spending money. I'm currently in the middle of painting my set of nesting dolls and this ring is just so creative and cute.

I love all whiteowl's funky lacy pieces, but I love the way this one acts like a collar.

I love big chunky rings (as if you couldn't tell from the items I make myself) and I've been really into this rough crystal rings lately. I don't like cute little petite stone rings and rings like this are just awesome. I love that this particular ring has a sizable band and the other is just gorgeous.

13% on the 13th

I've decided to start a special promotion every time the 13th falls on a Friday. I think I'm just really anxious for Halloween to arrive. I didn't do anything exciting last Halloween and I have really high hopes this year. I needed to do something "spooky" related to keep my orange and black cravings down.

Anyways, I'm officially bored with only 9 articles of clothing, but there's no going back. I've always been well aware that having a lot of clothing and material possessions is much more of a "want" than a "need," but I like having fun with my appearance and I am extremely grateful that I have the ability to do so. This little experiment has definitely made me more aware of what a luxury it is to go without doing laundry for 2 weeks at a time or having the ability to change my clothes if I spill something on myself. I don't want to be one of those people that has a closet full of clothes and declares that they have nothing to wear because I have a lot of crap and my crap is awesome.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Last night Ari, Nicole, and I got free tickets to a pre screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and OHMYGOSH it was UH-FREAKING-MAZING! I don't know what the comic to movie comparison is like, but I would consider it on my list of at least top 20 favorite movies of all time. Every minor detail was so well done that I want to watch it 19823712837 more times to take in every last one of them. Kieran Culkin was totally the best part of the whole movie. If you grew up in the late eighties and through the nineties, you will LOVE this movie. Guaranteed.

Watching Scott Pilgrim really made me miss having crazy colored hair. There's one scene where Ramona says "I change my hair every week and a half. Get used to it." It made me so sad because I used to dye my hair every two weeks and always had a fun new color. It some respects, it is really annoying having hair that needs so much upkeep which is why my hair is currently a "normal" color, but God I miss it some days.
In exciting craft news, check out what I'm working on......

BEAVERS!I haven't posted anything new in the shop in so long, but as soon as all this Boston hullabaloo is settled I'll have so many awesome new items to share.

The Morose B(oston)ee

It's officially OFFICAL. Our lease is signed, the moving truck is booked, my current job has my resignation, and we are moving to Boston! I'm looking forward to sharing pictures from my Boston explorations, sharing roller derby stories (hopefully!), and keeping on the creative path while in Bosoton.

I've still been sticking
only to my 9 clothing options a day! I've been so busy that I haven't been documenting every, but SCOUTS HONOR.

In the meantime, I leave you with this gem.
