This summer has been absolute insanity to say the least. As an art instructor, the summertime is the busiest time of the year since kids are out of school and lots of parents are looking to sign their kids up for camps and classes. The relationship with our kids is a love/hate one for me. They are so intelligent and hilarious and give me so much hope and inspiration, but they can also be downright little jerks at times as well. Plus, summer camp is a strange environment because you want the kids to focus and work on their art, but it's also not school and you don't want them to be bored. Sometimes I don't know whether to laugh at their antics or reprimand them to stop goofing off and get to painting. Either way, my studio has been running at 110% for the last 3 months and yesterday it finally ended with our last day of summer camp. I've spent the last 24 hours drinking wine, snuggling with piglet, and doing a whole lot of precious sleeping.
