Here's a some awesome shots from the Season Opener bout on Saturday. Just to clarify for anyone who wasn't there, the first bout was Boston Massacre vs Montreal New Skids on The Block. The second was Boston Derby Dames teams The Nutcrackers vs The Cosmonaughties. All photos courtesy of Joe Medolo.
Here's a few photos where you can see me and my awesome officiating buds courtesy of John Corneau! All the freshies earned our names this weekend and all of the vets were super awesome and encouraging and helpful!
I just got home from the Boston Derby Dames season opener and it was incredible! The skating from everyone was incredible and Montreal was a fun visiting team. As an official, I'm not allowed to comment on specifics about each team, but I think all sides did great.
Plus I earned my derby name MAY THE FORCE! Everyone started calling me May at the end of the night which was bizarre and wonderful at the same time. May the force be with you...
I'll see if I can't dig up some more derby pictures later, but, in the meantime, here is last Mondays Movie Monday Answer!
Also a great book with a very different ending. Can you believe this movie has been out for 12 years?
I was going through my Etsy shop just making sure all my listings were good, sold orders were shipped, etc, etc when I noticed this feedback left about two weeks ago regarding a carrot necklaced I sold:
Absolutely love this necklace. My father passed away of cancer, and one of the last things he said in his very medicated state was that I should wear more carrots. This is a lovely little item to have in his memory. Thanks so much!
I'm bawled like a baby after I read that. I make jewelry to have fun and share my love of quirky, bright, chunky jewelry with other people, but I never really thought about creating something that held so much meaning for someone. I think I took it so strongly because I'm close with my dad and I have a tattoo for him so father daughter stories always hit home for me. I think it's safe to say that my mind has officially been blown. Even if I never managed to make another sale on Etsy again, I am so happy that I was able to provide something important and meaningful to someone else. This is why creativity and sharing ideas and putting yourself out there is so important! Share what you have with the world because you never know who it will impact in a positive way!
Maybe I'm just a giant sappy crybaby, but I can't help it...
So I've been reading Ohdeedoh and other design blogs like crazy. Ari and I are most likely going to be renewing the lease on this apartment and I'd really like to spend the next year making this a more homey place. Ari only likes things are purely functional, but I want a faux fireplace so bad! Look how cute these are:
I know exactly where it would go in our apartment. A little mantle with a chalkboard flame and plushie log pillows--HOW CUTE!
It's nothing that we could afford right now, but every time I look at the little space on the wall where it could go I get excited. It's kind of like the feeling of seeing a blank patch of skin where you want a new tattoo and getting giddy about getting it done.
This week's Movie Monday was Lost in Translation starring Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray. Here's a few shots that relate to some of the clues I gave:
I had three winners in a row and no one has been able to guess the correct answer since then. I was worried I was making them too easy, but apparently not. Good luck next week everybody and even if you've already won before, feel free to guess again if you'd like something else from my shop!
I've got some new tea cup rings up in the shop today. I wore my blue one out while running errands and got so many compliments on it! It was so nice to hear. We're starting to thaw in Boston and it was a whopping 55 degrees outside today! My teacup ring went nicely with a tank and sheer cardigan. I'm so excited about the warmer weather.
It's the time of year for the Renaissance Festival in South Florida. I'm not there to enjoy it, but I'm wearing my Ren Fest moccasins! They're the most comfortable shoes ever and I've had this pair for over 10 years. I wish they made a vegan alternative because I would own a pair in every color!
Also, don't forget to take a stab at guessing this week's Movie Monday! The deadline is tomorrow afternoon!
